No Turning Back

Well, it looks like this is really happening. I wasn't too worried about the marathon because I figured we could walk and take our time if we were completely drained or didn't feel well. Our main goal was always just to finish. We didn't care if it took 6 hours, we knew we just wanted to finish. Well, we just got the race packet and we have only 5 hours. Sure, I know everyone is thinking we will be fine. We've been training for 18 weeks and doing the long runs but because the course is in Korean, we have no ideal of what to expect. We have heard it is a pretty flat course but we have seen a lot of hills here!

Can anyone read that?

We received a delivery last night and to our surprise it was our bib numbers. Oh and of course they gave us 2 huge bags of rice. I guess that is what happens when you race in Korea. It is real now! I am truly super excited for this...I really didn't know if we could do it. No matter what, I have had a blast training with Rush and couldn't have done it without him. He has been an incredibly motivational throughout the whole training process. These last few days were are taking it easy and just keeping our legs moving. I'll make sure to let everyone know how it turns out so check back!

Mileage Update

From 11 Jul - 3 Aug we have added 70 miles to our mileage! Yippee!

3 Weeks

How is it already August? I have no idea where the time has gone! I keep updating our marathon training schedule and can't believe we are already on week 14. Our runs have been going really well and for the last couple long runs I was by myself in Hawaii while Rush was in Korea. I definitely missed having my motivational partner so I'm happy to be back in Korea for our upcoming 18 mile this weekend!

I do have to say though I will miss my cheering squadron/water station back in Hawaii (Thanks Sandy for the water!).  The city of Seoul is okay for running, but we are having a hard time finding water fountains around our normal path. And of course the rolling hills don't help me out!

Last week, we decided to meet up in California because Rush was there for work. We took an extra week and took a little vacation. It was pretty last minute so finding reservations made it a little hard, but we took what we could find.

We started the journey in San Francisco by leaving at 430am en route to Yosemite. We added this on to the trip last minute and I'm so happy we did. It was absolutely one of the most amazing places I have ever been. It was beautiful and the weather was great. We ended up staying in a Yurt which was a little interesting but we made the best of it! It was something I can mark off my list :)

On Sunday morning we started the day with The 4 mile hike to Glacier Point. It actually ended up being about 5 miles...I'm guessing they haven't checked their mileage in awhile. From there we felt really good and decided to continue down on the Panorama Trail which was about 8 miles. We were able to see Nevada Falls, Vernal Falls and the continue on Mist Trail. After over 13 miles of hiking we called it a day and crashed hard for the night. We got up early the next day and headed to do The Upper Yosemite Falls hike. It was a total of 9 miles and we were able to get so close to the Falls. It was a steep walk down and a bit scary but something we had to do.

After saying good bye to Yosemite, we started driving towards Big Sur. Of course, camping would have been great but we just didn't have the time to get gear from friends so we found a rustic cabin. Rush's brother came down to meet us and we had a great time. Driving the PCH was beautiful and I'm really happy we had the chance to do the trip.

I took over 400 pictures from our trip but don't want to bore everyone with too many. It's almost the weekend here in Korea so that means one thing...it's almost time for our 18 mile run! Wish us luck because we will definitely need it!

Flash Drive Found!

The last two weeks have been busy! I've been trying to update with what has been going on, but I misplaced my flash drive to update our running distance so I've been slow to post. I finally hunted it down tonight and increased our running distance by 38 miles since my last post!

We have fished, watched our first polo match, biked on the bike path (a lot!!), baked some amazing cookie brownies, and of course run!

This summer we have had a lot of Ahi so we were really excited when we caught this 40ish pound Ono! It was so big didn't even fit in the cooler!

A recent new addiction for me has been Pinterest. I can always find time to pin, and I came across a recipe for the brownies below. They were so good! I can't wait to make them again. I'll definitely be sharing the recipe! Super easy too!

We were invited to watch our first Polo Match and really enjoyed it. I think I actually enjoyed the champagne more, but I can't seem to remember now :)

I wish I could capture the smell of the bike path! The flowers and fruit trees are so fragrant!  No matter what is going on, it puts a smile on my face.

And the last thing I've been doing in all my spare time is reading! I stumbled upon a lot of kindle books recently so I've been keeping my self busy. My guilty pleasure? The Hunger Games! Speaking of which, I should probably go and start the third book!

Good Night!

Not even half way

Saturday was a big day for us! Our runs during the week are going great! We can easily fit in an hour long run without a problem. Or even better, two days a week we only have to run 3 miles. Of course we all look forward to the weekend but I'm beginning to change my mind! We know with the long runs we need to have a plan in order for us to keep our training moving in the right direction. So, on Saturday after Rush landed (He sat in First Class so I don't think it was a bad flight for him!) we went to base and started our 12 mile run. Yes, no mistake in typing....12 miles. For us it's the longest distance we have run and I didn't think it would be too bad.  I miscalculated how long we would run and with about a quarter left, I realized it! I didn't have much of a choice anyway because I was determined to finish!  I'm happy to have it behind us but I realize our weekend runs will keep getting longer! We are starting week 8 of our training today and so far my body is feeling fine. No knee problems or aches...hopefully it stays that way!

Here is our after running picture...I was exhausted!!!
But if anyone is worried(Han), I promised we stopped to hydrate and have a snack :)

Our poor feet after 12 miles...I can't imagine 26.2! I hope you like my slipper tan!
That is what happens when you do everything in slippers!

On a completely different topic, our fruit trees are going off! The papaya tree is continuously producing fruit for us and I can't keep up! I'm giving them away as quickly as possible! This is our first lime off the baby tree below. It has been this size for about 3 months and I finally picked it. I guess it is just small! Our avocado trees are ready to picked and I think today might be the day! We have been waiting for this day for over a year! I can not tell you how excited I am to have our own avocado trees!!

To finish an already amazing weekend, some of friends went fishing yesterday and caught an Ahi! It was 140lbs!!! Can you guess what we had for dinner?
